Home Offices and Double Duty Bedrooms

1. Flat screen LCD monitors can do double duty as a computer monitor and a television. Many offer a variety of input options so that the user can switch between the computer feed and cable feed. Some even let you split the screen so you can watch TV and work at the same time. Another option is a tv card. They are available for many computers both Mac and PC. They not only allow you to feed the tv signal through your computer, but also allows you to split the screen as well so you can watch tv while you work. The TV cards can also ad a TIVO like function, allowing you to record your favorite shows right to your computer hard drive.

Going to a combined setup can allow you to place a flat screen TV on a desk at the end of a bed or opposite side of a fold out bed. This lets you work in the day and allows guests to watch tv in bed at night.

2. Daybeds are a nice way to to provide sleeping space and a comfortable place to read. But dont underestimate Murphy beds or sleeper sofas. Advances in technology and manufacturing have eliminated that uncomfortable bar that we all identify sofa beds with, and Murphy beds have made a big come back by using advanced materials such as carbon fiber. These new materials make them lighter and increase the design possibilities to a wide variety of attractive options.

3. Opt for shelving units that close up so when guests stay you can hide your work behind closed doors.

I hope these simple tips help you arrange your guest bedroom/office so that you can create a productive and comfortable space for both you and your guests.

Thanks and take care, Karli Bertocchi
